I found a solution for my original problem (see below). Now I notice that when this application is launched from within a batch file the same problem re-surfaces. What now? [Original Problem] When I first launch my application, its icon appears in the Alt+Tab list. When I open any of its modeless child windows and leave the focus on the child, the application icon disappears from the Alt+Tab list. If I leave the child window open but switch focus to the application's main window, its icon reappears in the Alt+Tab list.
