Try this:

ShellExecute(0, "open", "mailto:address@domain.com", "", "", SW_SHOWNORMAL);

or

int result = (int)ShellExecute(0, "open", "mailto:address@domain.com", "",
"", SW_SHOWNORMAL);
if (result <=32)
   ShowMessage("Unable to start mail client.");
