Hay guys,

Managed to work it out, though i'm not sure that it's the *correct* way.

Used ShellExecuteEx with the verb set to "properties" i.e.

   AnsiString sz = Edit1->Text;
   SHELLEXECUTEINFO execinfo;
   memset (&execinfo, 0, sizeof (execinfo));
   execinfo.cbSize       = sizeof (execinfo);
   execinfo.lpVerb       = "properties";
   execinfo.lpFile       = sz.c_str();
   execinfo.lpParameters = NULL;
   execinfo.fMask        = SEE_MASK_INVOKEIDLIST;
   execinfo.nShow        = SW_SHOW;

   if (!ShellExecuteEx(&execinfo))
      ShowMessage("Error opening properties");

- seems to work ok.
