I've got a thread that needs to send a paint message back to the parent.

Right now, I am using:
SendMessage(hParent, WM_PAINT, (WPARAM)0, (LPARAM)0);

It works, but it does not repaint the entire region.

The InvalidateRgn (API?) takes a BOOL bErase parameter that forces the 
background to erase before painting.

How can I modify either WPARAM or LPARAM so that my WM_PAINT message will 
force my OnPaint event handler to repaint the entire region?
