I personally, with BCB, manually pull a bunch of files out when I want to edit them, and remember to put them back later. But there are ways to configure the IDE to talk to a repository - I've just been too lazy to get BCB to talk to VSS. In the case of a different source repository, then the configuration will be different. And a different IDE will be different too, but it's usually doable.
