Actualy I need both.
I need to store a small amount of information in the registry (I will use
the HKEY_CURRENT_USER area for that)

I also need to store some configuration files (in XML).
I need a place that is common to all users and also a place that is specific
to each user.
I suspect it will be in the Documents and Settings folder.

P.S.: Remy Labeau sound French to me. Are you speaking French?
