Then you should be using SendMessage().

The only way to get any kind of notification for posted messages is if you
use a named event via CreateEvent().  Your app can reset the event, post the
messages, and then wait for the event to be signalled.  The other app can
then open and signal the event when the messages have been processed.  Of
course, that means that the other app has to know to work with your event in
the first place.  If it is not, then there is nothing you can do to wait on
posted messages.
