Bob,
      thanks for your attempts to help me, which are all headed in the
wrong direction, your unneeded sarcasm notwithstanding.

I don't need help on how to structure thread-wise my program. It is already
done, and done well.

I posed a simple question :

"Is there under Windows 98SE an API or combination of APIs functionally
equivalent to the GetSystemTimes API of Windows XP ?"

That's all what I need to know. If you have an answer, it will
be very welcome.
