Ah, you're not the person behind my least favourite program, are you?

I hope not.

But there is one program that does this. Once every ten seconds or so,
it tries exactly this, _despite_ the fact it's been told my phone
attaches via the USB cradle. But oh no, it _will_ insist on trying to
see if I'm lying to it. And so, every 10 seconds, until I terminate it
with due prejudice, it spurts some data to each and every serial port it
can find.

For some reason, the printer I have attached to one port doesn't like
this very much.

When this phone comes up for replacement, I _will_ be going for a
different make.

So, may I advise you only to do this scan when asked, or at least to
allow the scan to be limited to nominated ports?
