All,

I want to create a static overlay for a window in which I display an
image stream from a camera (SetDIBitsToDevice).  Currently, I redraw a
simpe cross hair after every image display, which works but gives a
flickery result.  I would rather have a statically displayed cross
hair overlaid on the image display.

I am thinking about a separate window, appropriately sized, with a
transparent background and the cross hair drawn on it, so sit on top
of the image display window (which is also the main program window).

I am targeting Win 9x and 2k, in an app that is pure Win32 API (no
MFC, OWL or VCL).

This creates a number of questions:

1.  Is a separate window a workable way to create a static cross hair
overlay?

2.  If it is, how do I tell it to not display a title bar?

3.  How do I tell it to have a transparent background?  (2k/XP offers
"Layered Windows", for which I think I can pull this one off.)

I appreciate any suggestions.
