The .lib files are not compatible with Borland's linker, and so that is not 
an option.

Eventually I discovered http://www.geocities.com/foetsch/borlibs/ ; some DX8 
libs for Borland. Regressing back to DX8 is not a problem, I guess, but it 
would be nice to have an up-to-date SDK for Borland.
