I do not want to create a file which already exists, destroying the existing file. OTOH, the name fopen() sounds rather safe. If it offers the unexpected extra service to create a non-existant file, it causes no damage. I always used fopen() to handle files. Is there a reason why I should use CreateFile()? Is the use of either function obsolete and frowned upon? -- Jos
