I am not sure that can help here.
BTW in my opinion Dell PC is a "Big Black Hole". I remember 
how I tried to connect Dell PC to our Electronic Cash Register.
It was so many problems that I was in frustration. For the last 
we'd put additional card with serial ports in PC and this way the 
problem was solved.
