>> I need to "SendMessage" a WM_COPYDATA message to >> a process running in Session 0 from the session for the current >> logged in user. >Why? I am developing a service which needs to communicate with a user application using inter-process communications. I believe I read somewhere that all System services start in Session 0. Thus only the user who logs in and gets Session 0 can communicate with my service because I am using WIndows MEssaging to send data back and forth between the two processes. When the next user logs in his Session ID is not zero and cannot communicate with my service. I am now considering other solutions. One thought is too somehow have the service spawn a process in the active session. I could than preserve the Windows Messaging protocol I have already developed. The spawned process would terminate when the user logs off. But I am not sure if spawning a process from one session into another is possible. The other obvious thought is too rewrite my code using a better IPC method that can more easily handle the multi-session scenario. Any addition comments are appreciated. - Fred
