This is so amazing, I had something like a null pointer assignment and only much later on in the code I got the access violation when trying to do file io stuff. I though that the file io stuff was causing problems but I was dead wrong, it was my unseen null pointer. The bad part was I had the code in a try catch block and the block was hiding the access violation. I was able to do a stack trace and eventually see where the problem was..
