Typically, that is what control IDs are for.  Each control would have a
unique ID assigned to it, so you can then use GetDlgItem() to find the HWND
of a particular control without having to hunt for it manually.  Or use
SendDlgItemMessage(), then you don't need the control's HWND at all, just
its ID and its parent window's HWND (which presumably you already have).

With that said, however - it will only work with non-Borland applications.
VCL controls do not use control IDs at all, thus GetDlgItem() and
SendDlgItemMessage() will not work on VCL-based applications.
