Thanks A LOT for all your help...

All right... If  going for the ShellExecute way; you said I would need to
use a CreateProcess function so I could use retrieve the process handle, but
wouldn't it create anoter instance of the app? or how to make
"CreateProcess" refer to the current spawned app? (all I need is the window
handle of the frist spawned app)

Now, if going for the CreateProcess option, I have two questions:
   1.- Would WaitForSingleObject accept a ProcessID, thread of process
handle from the PROCESS_INFORMATION?
  2.-How do I retrieve the Application Name associated to the file
extension?, what if it is not a file but a folder or even an exe? (this is
why I prefer the ShellExecute, however I'm not married to it, I just don't
know how to use it properly).
