The MSDN talks about using MsiGetShortcutTarget and MsiGetComponentPath for resolving MS Office App Links. Borland C++ Builder version 6.0 doesn't seem to recoginize either one. Is there a way to use these API functions in C++ Builder?

Where do you see that exactly? Neither of those are API functions. Those are scripting functions available only to MSI (Microsoft Installer) scripts. For API programming, using the IShellLink interface is the correct way to go. Gambit

Borland has a "msi.h" that contains the Microsoft Installer SDK version 1.0
definitions for MsiGetComponentPathA and MsiGetComponentPathW.
According to the MSDN, MsiGetShortcutTarget requries Microsoft Installer SDK
version 1.1 or later.
I ended up going back to the IShellLink functions to get it to work.
Figuring out how to resolve the MS Office App Shortcuts was difficult, but
in the end it turned out to be pretty simple. Once you get a pidl from
GetIDList, you call SHGetPathFromIDList(pidl, target).
hres = pShLink->GetIDList(&pidl);
if (SUCCEEDED(hres))
{
SHGetPathFromIDList(pidl, target);
}
Thanks for your help!
