I am using WIN32 API Free Borland Compiler. I would like to send calls to compile link etc to an MS-DOS box direct from a window app. I would also like to retrieve Error Info as would normally be shown in a MS-DOS BOX Assumming that these calls would indeed have to be aimed at an MS-DOS PROMPT . Is ShellExecute( where i should be looking. Could someone please point me in the right direction on this one. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Use CreateProcess() instead. It will allow you to provide your own handles for STDIN, STDOUT, and STDERR of the spawned process. That way, your application can directly send/receive text to/from the DOS app itself. No actual DOS window is needed. Look at CreatePipe(), Read/WriteFile() and GetStdHandle() for working with the handles. Gambit
