I have a question concernin TCP keep alive.

I wrote client /server appliation using low level TCP/IP ( on sockets )
Client is waiting for the data from server. And I want to have immediately
an information, than server is down ( f. ex. when I unplug their ethernet
cable ).
I read this article
http://www.sybase.com/detail/printthis/1,6907,1013181,00.html
I set KeepAliveTime = 3000, MaxDataRetries = 2, and KeepAliveInterval = 5000
in the server Registry
but this is not workings :(

Hat anybody experienced with?
