Printing 132 Columns
#1691

Hi all, I want to print a text file to
a printer but in the legacy 'wide' format
if you know what I mean. 132 columns

So now it has to kinda compress horizontally.
What is the best font for this? How do I
init this or setup the printer canvas?.

By the way I am using the normal windows printer,
in that I am not using direct printer commands
like in the old day.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Colin!

Hi Colin,

I suggest you to use a fixed size font, like Courier new,
Fixed Sys, and so on...

As it's possible to squeeze the font horizontally in order to adapt
the horizontal size, IIRC, before calling, e.g., the API CreateFontIndirect,
you can try to assign to the lfWidth member of LOGFONT structure a appropriate
value to fit the text for 132 cols.

Regards

Giuliano

I gave code for this some time ago:
http://groups.google.com/group/borland.public.cpp.borlandcpp/browse_thread/thread/16a3d6739a7f524c/bb65e51f3b02dfba

For wide reports, I prefer to switch to landscape mode before applying that code.
