How do you get a list of the COM ports (hard or soft) that are available on each computer? Is there something like list EnumPrinters for serial ports? Thanks, Steve

Hi, Enumerating the com ports is something a lot of people has done. It requires searching through the registry, which gets a little messy because the data is stored in different places in different versions of windows, and in different ways in the same version of windows. Mr. Afanasyev's stuff is good, and has helped me extensively. You might also do a google search on "serial port enumerators" You are also welcome to the code I bashed out after reviewing a lot of different enumerators. let me know, and I'll email it to you.
