I have a form where I have overridden WindowProc to enable me to process the WM_DROPFILES message. This works fine. How do I distinguish whether the user has dragged with the left or right mouse buttons? TIA Richard Kavanagh

You would have to implement OLE Drag&Drop instead, by deriving a class from IDropTarget and then call RegisterDragDrop(). The various methods of the IDropTarget interface specify the keyboard and mouse keys that are used during the dragging. Gambit

WM_DROPFILES is deprecated anyway. Microsoft wants people to use OLE D&D nowadays, because it imuch more flexible, and is more integrated with the OS. Gambit
