Hello there, I have created a .chm file using the Microsoft HTML Help Workshop. I now want to have my C++Builder 2007 application display the .chm and a specific help topic. I have placed the HtmlHelp.lib in my lib folder and the HtmlHelp.h in my include folder that came with the Microsoft HTML Help Workshop. In my code: #include <htmlhelp.h> HtmlHelp(Handle,"my.chm",HH_HELP_CONTEXT,262); When I try to compile I get an Unresolved External on 'HtmlHelp'! So I must have the wrong versions of HtmlHelp.lib and HtmlHelp.h. I have tried the ones that came with Microsoft HTML Help Workshop. I have tried the ones that came with my install of C++ Builder 2007. I have tried using IMPLIB to create my own HtmlHelp.lib from my hhctrl.ocx. Does anyone else call on a .chm file using HtmlHelp()? Should I be doing this another way? Thank you for any help you can offer. Chad

Chad, > ... > So I must have the wrong versions ofHtmlHelp.lib andHtmlHelp.h. > ... You may want to try the C++ Builder HH Kit, available from: http://helpware.net/downloads/index.htm#TheCBuilderHHKit This comes with a version of htmlhelp.lib that is compatible with C++ Builder. Pete

That .lib file is not going to be compatible with CodeGear's compiler, as it
is meant for VC++ instead.

You did not add the .lib file (well, a compatible version of it, anyway) to
the project. Simply putting the file into the folder is not enough for the
linker to use it.

I suggest you go to http://www.deja.com and search the newsgroup archives.
The topic of using HtmlHelp has been discussed in detail many many times
before. In fact, the VCL has supported handling CHM files in the
TApplication::HelpFile property, just like it does for HLP files, since BCB
6. You do not need to call HTMLHelp() directly. All you need is to call
RegisterViewer() to register a class that derives from the ICustomHelpViewer
interface. The VCL handles the rest for you. The VCL has a native
implementation of ICustomHelpViewer for HLP files, but you can add your own
separately as well. There are plenty of third-party implementations
available for HTMLHelp, for example:
http://cc.borland.com/Item/22408
http://www.torry.net/vcl/vcltools/help/sphtmlhelp.zip
http://www.ec-software.com/comppage.htm
Just to name a few.
