If you are comfortable with BC++ and find the IDE to be a productive
environment, and especially if you program using OWL, I would suggest
that you try out upgrading BC++5.02 to use OWLNExt and the new 5.5
compiler before going out and buying Builder. I have both and still
feel like I'm more productive, and certainly happier, using BC++. I use
Builder only fro projects where I need stuff that OWL does not do as
easily as VCL does, but I'm finding fewer of those things as I get set
up better with OWL. By upgrading to the 5.5 compiler, you also get the
latest STL (the one used in Builder 5) as well as the C++ standards
support provided in BCB5.

For OWLNExt, go to http://members.nbci.com/owlnext/

For Tools 5.5 (for integrating the free commandline compiler into BC++
5.02) go to: http://www.sirma.bg/knowledgebase/bcc55/bcc55.html

If you do get BCB5 as well, and if your version of BC++ includes
CodeGuard, you can use the BCB version of CodeGuard in the Tools 5.5
version of BC++ 5.

You can have the venerable 5.02 IDE and all the latest stuff too. Life
is good.
