Hi Mitch,

You really have two problems here, you need something that helps you get to
know Builder 4, and something that teaches you C++ in general. Usually I
have found books that try and teach you both, end up teaching neither very
well.

Learning Builder 4 is a relatively easy task, and I would look for the most
simple, pictorial, small book I could find to help you get to grips with the
way builder does things and its Development Environment. I'd also continue
to make use of these newsgroups as you can learn a lot by asking the right
questions.

Learning C++ is a bit more difficult, esp coming from a C backround. You've
really got two tasks here 1)learning C++ syntax, 2)coming to grips with
Object Oriented Programming in general. Lots of books will give you the low
down on the differences between C and C++, but its much harder to find a
concise book on approaches to Object Oriented Programming in general.
Though the Builder environment does promote object oriented programming
practices in various ways. I have learnt a lot about OOP from a book called
'What every programmer should know about OOP' by Meileir-Page-Jones. Its
small, focused and well written.

Good luck
Stu who knows how it feels
