That's correct, unfortunately.

Try to change the property once in the base form. Save. Change again.
Save. 

Basically, you will have to try to get  the property into the base form.

The best solution, in any event, is NOT to have to rely on OldCreateOrder
at all - it matters only if you abused the OnCreate event. Hence, if you
move all your OnCreate code to the constructor of the form, you are
perfectly fine (and you clean up your code, too, on the way)
