This is just a standalone machine with modem for internet. Internet explorer 
is running, but not connected, so I would expect to see the test message in 
my outbox. Have done similar thing before with MAPI under Win32 and this 
works ok.

So the smtp server is just the outgoing mail server. The box re 
authentication is not checked.

What is CDO?
