Hi all, I am currently designing the reporting framework to be used in the application. I will be using Crystal Reports for the actual report production, but I made the decision to keep the report templates and the report generation code as separate as possible. The solution for this will involve producing XML files containing the report information, and setting up the crystal templates to use an XML filesystem database. I already have this working as a proof-of-concept, but now the design becomes slightly involved. What I will have is multiple reports, e.g. Tax Invoice, Cheque, Inventory, etc. that will all have (potentially) different calculation algorithms, and could all require different data to be reported. Currently, my design is as follows: Use an abstract Report class to contain all the common code (file IO, naming, etc), and have each report inherit from this. With each concrete Report implementation, use private classes to hold the reportable information, then within Report.cs, use Reflection to convert these classes to a .XML file. Each Report implementation will be accessible through a ReportFactory. Can anyone share some other ideas? Regards, --
