using datagrid

I am new to d2005 so not sure how to go about achieving this. But I am
trying to add/delete records in an ECO app with datagrid bound. what I would
like to do is allow the user to automatically add a record if they have the
last row of the grid selected and press the down arrow (or automatically add
a new object if they start typing in the last row). However I cant seem to
trap the onkeyup or onkeydown event of the grid even though I have
implemented its events. Is there something that I am missing to do this?

alternatively I would like to provide the user with a context menu on the
grid. However I cant seem to get the menu to pop up when they right click on
a column in the grid (but only when they right click on the grid's blank
space). How do I assign a context menu to the columns?

I suggest you ask in the eco group.

Does it make a difference that it is ECO. As in if the app isnt ECO, would
the onkeyup etc be the way to go to run code to add/delete records? The
reason I ask is that all the code examples I have found via Google indicate
other ways to achieve this (such as buttons etc)

I don't really know. The only way I can think of to make it act like
Del[phi's DB Grid (which is what I assume you want here) is to add a
dummy record at the bottom and create a new one each time the user
edits it.

that sounds like what I am trying to do. My problem is that I cant seem to
trap the onkeyup or onkeydown event. Is there any special trick to this?

The only way to get this sort of access to a DataGrid is to create a
subclass of a DataGridColumnStyle (or usually base it off one of the
existing subclasses) and link that up to your grid.

I worked out how to do this. Basically for a textboxcolumn, I trap the
onkeydown of the datagridcolumn.textbox and go from there.
