Download link in ASP.NET?

Hello,

I haved tried to use a HyperLink to create a download URL by giving the full
path (and file), but it doesn't work. I need to have a download in style of
"Open-Save-Cancel" by the browser for .EXe-files. How to do it (D2006)?

Thanks,
John

You mean like

<a href="http://www.mysite.com/downloads/program.exe">Click Here</a>

Yes, exactly. But the syntax generated there for the local test is
'hyperlink=c:\inetpub\wwwroot\myapp\text.exe' (as I remember, I'm currently
not at the machine there).

See my answer to Craig regarding how I proceeded. The reaction after
clicking on the link was just nothing.

You can't hyperlink directly to a file.
You should use the http path to the file or a relative path.
  /my virtual dir/test.exe
You should also quote your path.

I'm using D2006 ASP.NET. Where can I put there this link? It's not just HTML
(and I'm not used very much with HTML nor), I didn't see any other
'link'-component which would be suitable for this.

In a Hyperlink component or write your own <A> tag. If you are not
familiar with HTML.
