Creating Strongly Typed Datasets from XSD files
#120

Hi,

I am new to Delphi 2006.

I am looking for a way that I can convert an XML schema (XSD) file into a
strongly typed dataset class. I can see this can be done from a database
source, but I want to use a schema file.

In Visual Studio I can do this in the IDE, but would like to do this in the
Delphi IDE and create Delphi (pascal) code.

Sorry if this question has been answered before - on my search of previous
answers/documentation I drew the conclusion that this is not possible with
Delphi tools, but I may be wrong.

Thanks for any help

Hi,

if you have added the XSD file to a Delphi.NET project, try
right-clicking the XSD file in the project manager and selecting
Generate dataset (at the bottom of the menu). The file must be saved
before the Generate dataset option is available IIRC.

Robert

Thank you Robert! That's exactly what I was looking for. I can also use the
option "create instance of dataset" to put one of the dataset controls on my
form. Perfect.
