I need the SQL statement to get the default value of a column (Field)
in a Interbase, Oracle, & DB2 table

something like

SELECT     COLUMN_DEFAULT FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS
WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'your table name'


is this possible  in all SQL databases?

Is there an alternative way?

FYI the newsgroup borland.public.delphi.database do not officially
exist. Use b.p.d.database.general. Further use Borland news server when
posting. Take a look here:
