It is rather unusual to interact with the user from a secondary thread. If you real need that you have to create an input dialog using the Windows API only. This would either use a predefined dialog box template (a DIALOG resource) and the DialogBoxParam API function or build a dialog template in memory and use DialogBoxIndirectParam.
