I've inheritted a project that was built in Delphi 2. I'm not being given time or money (at this time) to upgrade to another version of Delphi. So, I'm making due. So even though that's an obvious solution to my problem, it won't help. So, can you give me some other ideas? : I'm trying to simply declare a WideString variable in D2. Every time I compile the code I get an error: "Undeclared identifier: 'WideString'.". This is a component I downloaded to do some Win API work, so it needs WideStrings to handle the UniCode I'm guessing. Are WideStrings usable in D2? I've seen some old posts/suggestions, referring to the use of WideString in D2, but I can't find WideString in any of the HELP files only WideChar. Do I need to include some file in my USES statement to get WideStrings in D2? Is there an alternative? I tried replacing the WideStrings with AnsiString. The code compiled fine that way, but doesn't function correctly when it gets down to one of the AnsiStrings. thanks for any help. -pete
