I downloaded the IB Developer 2007 to Win XP Pro workstation where IB 7.5 Desktop was installed. Installed as Multi-instance. Have done remove and reinstall of 2007 more than once with only partial success. So there are some IB issues. But, both servers appear to be running. IB Console was working immediately after installation, but resumed a previous error after rebooting. When trying to start IB Console, it flashes a window and a graphic, then totally fails. Even if it is having trouble with IB Server, I would expect IB Console to remain up. What can be changing due to a reboot? IB Console is v 8.1.0.256, which is included with the IB Developer 2007 download. -- Patrick Moloney

Try the latest beta release from my webpage http://www.gvsnet.nl/ibconsole -- Gelein van de Voorde (IBConsole team) "The blossoms on an apple tree are standardized, and yet they are all different. There is a lot of good information on your IBConole site. Very helpful. But another question, now that we have IB multi-instance. IBConsole has long been packaged and installed with each version of InterBase. Now that a user may have 2 versions of IB installed on their computer, is it necessary to have a version of Ib installed with each. Does IBConsole have any dependencies with the Interbase install? Or, should IBConsole be separated from the Interbase installation and installed as a stand-alone application that can be used on multiple versions of InterBase? It appears that every user with 2 versions of Interbase installed also has 2 copies (probably 2 versions) of IBConsole installed. Can we avoid this, and is IBConsole dependent on either of the Interbase installations (in case one is uninstalled)? -- Patrick Moloney

It is also downwards compatible. It even still can handle pre IB6.0 servers. The only condition is that IBConsole has the latest gds32.dll. My solution is placing IBConsole.exe with the helpfiles and the latest gds32.dll in a seperate directory. Official a connection to a lower version server with a higher version client is not supported. But in practise it works well. I'm using this technic now for about 10 years. There have been a problem with IB2007, but this is resolved in SP2. -- Gelein van de Voorde (IBConsole team) "The blossoms on an apple tree are standardized, and yet they are all different.
