Backup-Error in IBConsole 8.1.0.274 - Error reading data from the connection

-use ibconsole 8.1.0.274 (http://www.gvsnet.nl/ibconsole/windows.htm)
-register server remote, 127.0.0.1, gds_db
-create database c:\test.ib
-try to backup this db to c:\test.ibk

i always get:

335544726 - Error reading data from the connection
------------

interbase.log:
------------
MYSERVER (Server)	Sun Aug 31 11:33:35 2008
	INET/inet_error: read errno = 10054 client host = MYSERVER connection
name = myserver user name = MYUSERNAME server port number = 0
------------



same backup works with ibconsole 8.1.0.256

i use win xp pro sp3, ib sp2


by the way... if i login to 127.0.0.1 with ibconsole, goto Tools->New
connection... click cancel, i get an error "Database name is missing"
