New beta release for IBConsole available (8.0.0.49)
#212

WISQL window now has an option for Read Only transaction.
WISQL window has also an option for cancelling a query.
Due to a bug in the API this option does not work for the executing of
a stored procedure.
The option is not available on the Linux-version, because cancelling of
the operation on Linux crashes IBConsole without any error message.

Hi Gelein.
In new IBConsole is a bug.
When you try add e.g. foreign key which name already exists
IBConsole hang without any error message.
e.g. try add this twice for the same table and field and with the same name
of constraint
ALTER TABLE XXXX ADD CONSTRAINT UK_XXX__YYYY UNIQUE (YYYY);

When i run the same in orginal IBConsole 7.5.0.1 then i get error "attempt
to store duplicate ..."

Gelein, much appreciated. I'm still seeing some occasional font weirdness
in the grid results of the ISQL window, but it's improved over the previous
version.

Thanks,

Karol,
May I assume that you do this in WISQL window?

Dan,
I went back to Delphi7. My problems are solved. Are you talking about
XP or Windows2003?

I'm mainly seeing this on Windows 2003 server. I'm also still getting the
occasional 'Canvas does not allow drawing' error too -- this is probably due
to the threading you added.

Just a guess, but are you doing any kind of GUI updates from within the
separate thread?

Dan,
I'm reviewing my threadcode. I also got the Canvas errors.
Hope to fix it in the next beta release.

Gelein, I noticed on the readonly transaction, that it's set to SNAPSHOT
isolation. Read/write transactions default to READ COMMITTED. I hate to
keep bugging you but can you add an Isolation option as well? Ideally, I'd
like the default to be Read-Only, Read Committed.

Thanks,

Dan

I think I got the thread problems solved.
Introducing the readonly transaction was a quick solution.
I'm working now on an option to able the users to specify which kind of
transaction they want to have.

Should be resolved in 8.0.0.50
