   dbSwing or any "View" component has nothing to with the "Model" or 
data providing end. These are and should be separate issues.  You "bind" 
a "Model" to a "View" your multi-user issues should be handled by the 
Model and the database server, your view, in this case dbswing, only 
displays the model. (actually IMO mostly all multiuser issues are 
handled by the database server..with exception of the resolver issues, 
but that is another discussion..)

  Suggestions..

  Study up on MVC architecture (Model,View, Controller) and the JDBC 
architecture (Sun web site). Read up on the DataExpress architecture in 
the papers found in the link below, and then post any further questions 
on the view (dbswing) in the dbswing section and any database specific (
model/DataExpress) issues here..
