Sorry for the previous posting. I think it was quite unclear. 
Another try:


I work with Interbase 7.1 and interclient 4.5 on solaris. 
I would like to backup, shutdown, restore etc. a database from a java application. 
The documentation suggests to obtain a ServerManager-Object thru the
getServerManager-function in class DataSource, unfortunately this
function doesn't exist. .. so I work currently with system-calls. 

Isn't there any better solution?
