Worked perfectly before my holiday and nobody knowns what caused it, but i'm stuck with it. It's only my machine. Everyone else's works perfectly. But anyway....
Info:
3rd Party using Interbase client on Windows 2000 machine
Ibclient Version in regkey WI-T5.6.0
I've domain admin rights and all permissions to folders etc.

Using the Communication Diagnostic Tool i figured out that i'm not able to connect using the defined service ("Error - Failed to find the named service gds_db"). Connecting directly using port 3050 is possible however. Line in etc/services exists, is last line and is followed by empty line.

Tried:
- Helpdesk 3rd party :-)
- Reinstalling client
- retyping gds_db 3050/tcp in etc/services
- Copied etc/services from working machine

Entry in ib_install.log
"Configuring InterBase TCP/IP service...
ERROR: isc_status TCP protocol is not installed, Winsock error: 11004"

Anybody suggestions, or better still...the solution?
I refuse reinstalling my laptop....yet.
