Hi,

In my previous postings I mentioned about ib6 abnormal termination problem, 
I finally found a fix, but not sure it's a real solution, here is the 
summary of the problem and solutions:

The problem:

I have an IBX app with IB6 in some Linux and windows server, it has been 
running for years without problem. lately I modified the program, also the 
minor changes to the table structure and some changes to the stored 
procedure, to upgrade the .gdb to the latest version, I use 
Clevercomponent's Data comparer to compare the .gdb with a master copy and 
got a update script, I run the update script against the target gdb. from 
then on, IB6 server terminated abnormally almost daily, there are a lot of 
'abnormal termination(-1)' in interbase.log, either in Linux or Windows

Solution 1:

In a Linux server, I use gbak to back up the .gdb and restore, problem went 
away for the last several days, did not even see a single line in the 
interbase.log

Solution 2:

In a Linux server, I created an gdb with the script taken from the old gdb, 
then i data pump the data from old gdb to the new.gdb, problem still came 
out. then i back up and restore the new.gdb, problem went away. why the 
old.gdb datapump to new.gdb does not work? I thought it creates a brand new 
.gdb?
