This is exactly what we did just last week.  After porting our Paradox
database to Interbase, we were unable to run in on a corporate Novell
server, so I put together a small Windows2000 server with 25 CALs, and now
everything is running great - and my users love the speed improvement.
Total cost, including all hardware and 25 user server license, was under
$3K.
