Hi all, I am looking at the open source version of interbase for a stand-alone application. I have some concerns about securing the data deployed on the client machine. I understood I can install IB and then change the SYSDBA password at least to have password protection. My question is: what if IB is already installed on the client machine and of course the SYSDBA pwd changed? I should not uninstall IB and install it again to be able to change the pwd and making someone else application not run anymore. I cannot even enforce protection by using grant/revoke on the db since they have no effect on SYSDBA. Am I missing something about how to deploy an application together with an IB database? Any help is very appreciated. thanks Gianfranco

It's against Borland newsgroup rules - it also means that people (who are trying to help) have to waste time re-reading posts they've already read and answered. Responses in interbase.general. Interbase 6.0.1.0; When asking database related questions, please give other posters some clues, like operating system, version of db being used and DDL. The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!"). Thanks. Furthermore, as a courtesy to those who spend time analysing and attempting to help, please do not top post.
