Hi, I installed the IB 6.02 from http://mers.com, it seems working in the server as i can start ibmgr manually, but when trying to connect from a windows workstation, it says 'can't complete request to host ...', any idea how to make IB 6 work on ubuntu? thanks. FrankW

It's not supported anymore, but it's been less than four years since Borland stopped supporting 6.x, including Open Edition. Look at the Microsoft or Borland product lifecycle sheets for examples of how the word is used: A product is "supported" when you can buy support to get technical help for your problems. If you mean to say "last published fix," then why not use the correct terminology? AFAICR, IB 6 (including Open Edition) was supported up through sometime last year. > Why off-topic? Because your own personal history of misusing these newsgroups to promote databases other than InterBase precedes you. Don't pretend that your spam on these groups never happened. The Borland newsgroups exist to provide technical support for users of Borland products, not to promote your personal projects. Further ads or disingenuous questions from you will be cancelled. -- Craig Stuntz [TeamB] . Vertex Systems Corp. . Once again you are right and I'm wrong. Just checked sourceforge.net/projects/interbase (the web-site for IB Open) and I could verify the last closed bug is dated nov/19/2001, (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=482931&group_id=1962&atid=101962). We have 12 days before it turns over 4 years... > Please don't reply to legitimate questions with off-topic and > incorrect assertions. Why off-topic? An upgrade path is a perfectly valid way to solve problems. For example, I see people (in delphi.non-tech) all the time sugesting D2006 as a solution to D2005 pains... Right now there is another post by the same FrankW, without responose since oct/24. If he insists on IB 6 Open, he will be talking to himself in no time. > > Thank you. > You are welcome. Ivan.

Hi Ivan, I tried, but still find IB6 enough for me, in fact it's fast and stable, I'm thinking of upgrading to other versions of open source, just find time to re-test everything too expensive. frank "Ivan Cruz" <ivan@artha.com.br> wrote in message news:436F62D2.6020105@artha.com.br... > FrankW wrote: >> Hi, >> >> I installed the IB 6.02 from http://mers.com, it seems working in the >> server... > > Hi Frank > > IB 6 Open is an unsuported product for 4 years now.
