Hi... we have a Win2k Terminal Server running Firebird1.5 which hosts all our customer and service records, etc. I've downloaded an open source odbc driver, and I think I should be able to plug into the database via MS Access or Excel or whatever I may have to use. I've tried this on my test bench and it works. My problem is that I can't set up any further apps on the Terminal Server, due to company policy. Now, I've tried to install the ODBC driver on my workstation. It won't install, because I don't have Firebird installed on my workstation. Considering that I'm running too much stuff on my laptop, I'd prefer not to install Firebird on it. Is there a way to plug myself into the ODBC driver over the network? What I mean is, have the ODBC driver running on the server, and plugging a client into the datasource from a workstation? If so, how? Thanks in advance.
