Hi,
1) As lack of documentation from system administrator, how can I know
the type of IB Server 6.0.2 in our running Linux server ( SuperServer or
Classic Server )?
2) Is it SuperServer type running more faster than ClassServer in Linux
kernel 2.6.x ?
3) There will hang up the Linux's IB 6.0.2 server ( like an deadlock
waiting ) when I close the program from which is written by Delphi 6
with IBEvents, IBX 6.0.5.
The program is very simply :-
IBEvents.Registered := True; ( when the TForm is Created )
IBEvents.Registered := False; ( when the TForm is Closed )
I have see the /opt/interbase/interbase.log, I guess the following
message may be cause the hang-up problem.
IB-SERVER Tue Jan 24 15:45:28 2006
Database:
lock manager error
inconsistent lock table version number; found 114, expected 14
THX for any reply !!!
Regards,
Nelson.

Simple test: Connect two or more users to the DB, then do: ps -a | grep inter If you see one row (process), then you're running SS. If you see multiple rows, then it's classic. > 2) Is it SuperServer type running more faster than ClassServer in > Linux kernel 2.6.x ? It depends. There is no simple answer to this. I've been told that IB 6 SS Open Edition (*not* the non-free Borland version!) has problems not found in the Classic Open Edition, but I've never seen them quantified, and they don't appear to have been a problem in the Borland version, so I'm not sure if it's true or not. > 3) There will hang up the Linux's IB 6.0.2 server ( like an deadlock > waiting ) when I close the program from which is written by Delphi 6 > with IBEvents, IBX 6.0.5. > > The program is very simply :- > IBEvents.Registered := True; ( when the TForm is Created ) > > IBEvents.Registered := False; ( when the TForm is Closed ) I honestly wouldn't recommend using events on IB < 7.1. Events were finally fixed in that version. Prior to that they can destabilize your server if the network connection is severed, if you have > 1 NIC on the server, etc., etc. Too much hassle, but it works fine in 7.1+ > I have see the /opt/interbase/interbase.log, I guess the following > message may be cause the hang-up problem. > > IB-SERVER Tue Jan 24 15:45:28 2006 > Database: > lock manager error > inconsistent lock table version number; found 114, expected 14 First thing I'd do is DB validation / gfix. -- Craig Stuntz [TeamB] Vertex Systems Corp. Columbus, OH Delphi/InterBase Weblog : http://blogs.teamb.com/craigstuntz How to ask questions the smart way: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
