Bi Way replication does not complete

We have 2 IB dbases that replicate to each other using IBase Replic V
1.3. We use Ibase 6 open edition. When ever I do select count(*) from
repl_log in one database the result is always 394 and it appears that
both databases are up to date. In the other database the result is
currently 0. It seems that one database is just sending bucket loads
of data to the other database (500mb data/day) whereas the other
database sends only 50-60MB of data/day back.
I would like some advice as to what may be wrong with the set up of
the replication as the end result is excess download fees with our
ISP. How do I diagnose the error - it seems like one repl_log does not
get cleared despite sending the data. The database is only 600mb in
size.
This problem only started 1 month ago and the replication had never
caused this problem previously. Any advice as to the likely causes
would be appreciated
Thanks
Anthony

My mistake....the replication is set to run continuously. That begs
the question...if there is no data to replicate what data is being
sent between the two databases. Is is possible to set the replication
that if no data is to be replicated then the replication stops until
more data is inserted into the database? My main question though is
what is causing such massive downloads when both databases are up to
date. (The repl_log table shows entries but these are just left overs
from how the replication was set up - certain tables were removed from
the replication setup and this is the left over data so in real terms
the repl_log table is being cleared)
Thanks
Anthony
