I do not know about IB7.xx performance, but IB6.x is not comparable with MSSQL. It is not only string indexes. Also joint queries and something like WHERE ID IN (<list>) where <list> is thousands of items long. MSSQL handles this with ease. Maybe I should look at IB7 but company would not buy it. We use IB for the purpose of distributing our catalogs as free sql server. We cannot distribute licensed version. MSSQL is widely accepted server our customers depend on. We cannot just tell them "hey, you need to buy Interbase cause we like it more and do not like microsoft". Again - I do not know how IB7 looks but we need very usable SQL manager, at least like in MSSQL (which is way far from being ideal itself). IB6 has scarce management console, period. Regards.
