I think you have that backwards. It is faster and easier to do it on the server. Suppose in the future you write another app that uses the same database. Now you have to implement the same logic in both apps and any time you change it in one app you have to change it in all apps then test them all to make sure the behavior is the same. Whether you decide to store the balance in the table or calculate it the balance should be maintained on the server so that all applications that use the database will play by the same rules. -- Bill Todd (TeamB)
